One of the important things about version 6.0 of Bryce was the "non-sexy" features we added. Bryce underwent some major code revisions during the past year and a half to help keep it from dying. Bryce has been around for well over a decade and internally, it showed. But now, we have a code-base that we can begin to really make some signifcant improvements upon. The level of integration between DAZ|Studio and Bryce that you currently see in version 6 has improved since version 5.5 to now allow you to import animations. What if we told you that in future builds of Bryce you wouldn't have to "import" such character animation, but could simply load Victoria into your Bryce scene directly? Wow. Now that would be awesome. And if it hadn't been for the hard, unattractive feature of "code-overhaul" that was done, that would never be possible. But now we can move in that direction like we never could have before. Now, I don't want to be quoted as having announced that in version 7 of Bryce you'll be able to do that, but we're definitely going to get as close to that as we can.
How about being able to create real forests of 1,000's of trees? Or an army of 1,000's of Michael's in your scene without Bryce crawling to a halt and "giving up the ghost"? In the past that would have been nothing more than a dream, but now we have a foundation that we can begin building that on.
What about having an SDK that allows third-party developers to being creating their own additions and improvements to Bryce? Wow, that could really open some doors for the future of Bryce now couldn't it? That simply wasn't possible before, but now we'll be able to start making that a real possibility for Bryce.
The sky is the limit for Bryce when you think about it. Think of how many ways its competitors were able to advance while Bryce was more or less abandoned? Well, Bryce is much closer now to being able to get back up and start taking long strides like that again and give you the type of growth and expansion that it deserves.
So, no, I don't have a feature list for version 7.0 ready to share with you all yet, we have to get through the 6.1 dev cycle first. But, I for one am excited to be a part of it all.
In my opinion, the future of Bryce is bright.
